My First Stitches - Francesca Style (4)

Francesca fell at daycare and busted her head open just under her eyebrow. After arriving at the Emergency room, we performed the standard waiting and waiting.
Once we got back to see the ER doc, we got a call back from Francesca’s pediatrician about the possibility of plastic surgery. So we basically had about 15 minutes to decide the fate of our child's face. It's not fun trying to figure that out, knowing that your little decision may affect her future.
(Karen and I aren't vain people, but did we really want our child to have a big scar on her face?) Ultimately, we decided to just have the ER doc stitch her up. She was amazingly calm. She didn't cry or squirm. Obviously the topical numbing agent worked well.
So now she has a big black eye. Hopefully the scaring will be minimal.

We're really glad no permanent harm was done. Jennifer & Francesca will be able to compare scar :)

Jeremy-- Karen mentioned how Jenn's scar didn't destroy her life...so comparing scars will be fun. (I've always thought scars were cool.)
Jenny-- Thanks! I'll let her know!

Ugh. That second picture makes me squeamish. I'm just no good with that sort of stuff...
