Dalhart Summer 2006 (0)

We drove to Dalhart last week and had a great time with my family. Over the next few days I'll be sharing pictures and stories (lots of pictures).

All of the grandkids were together, including the newest addition, Isabella. I managed to snap one shot where almost all of them were looking at the lens.

We trudged into the rain one of our first nights there and drove to Palo Duro Canyon near Amarillo. This beautiful canyon is home to Texas, a musical that has been performed on hot summer nights for 41 years.

Although I am a panhandle native, I had never been to see this show. I still haven't seen it all. Francesca got freaked out by a prospector who was shot at and fell on a cow skull. He ran around the stage holding his hind quarters and screaming in pain. Karen took Francesca to the "cry" room for the rest of the first half. I spent the second half of the show with her watching the action on a TV monitor.

The one nice part of the "cry" room is that it is dry. What started as a light sprinkle turned into a deluge by the end of the show.

Below are some face painting pictures of Sophia and Abbie. Sophia bugged Karen about face painting for days. Shortly after I took this photo, she wanted it washed off. Kids are strange sometimes.
