The New Digital Camera (2)
So I finally bought a digital camera:

Canon Powershot SD300 Digital Elph Camera
It's a 4MP camera that takes really nice pictures. It has some great features as well. So what was my logic? I went with Canon because I've had excellent luck with other Canon products both personally and professionally. I wanted a compact camera that could be inconspicuous and easy to tote around. This thing is tiny and very discreet. (Which is good for doing recon in a store a.k.a. researching something for a client, or candid photos.)
I also didn't want to replace my film camera, and this camera won't. Good for the blog, but not for life. JD recently had some thoughts on a digital cameras that echoed mine. (Of course I can't seem to locate exactly where he said it. Sorry.) Eventually I want a digital camera that will allow me to use the compliment of lenses I currently own (which is for a Cannon SLR). Unfortunately the level of digital SLR I'm looking for is a little too pricey at the moment.

Canon EOS 20D 8.2MP Digital SLR Camera
When I'm actually ready to do it, I should be able to get the quality of camera I want for a slightly better price...maybe.

Congrats on the digital camera purchase.
We have a 2MP Canon A40 (about 2 years old) that we have had great luck with. For actual prints we still prefer our Nikon N60 SLR, but for doing weblog photos, digital really is the way to go.
On our recent trip to Victoria, we took both the SLR and the digital, but we never took the SLR out of the bag. The small size of the digital (A40 is the same size as the A85/A95) is just so much more convenient when your walking around being a tourist.
Well, anyways... I really enjoy your little weblog and I wish you the best of luck with the new toy.

Thanks. I've been really on the fence about getting a digital camera (I'm a film guy at heart), but the weblog forced the issue.
The biggest surprise is how much I enjoy using it because of its size. I just never enjoyed feeling like the obnoxious tourist or the scary parent who documents every waking moment of their child's life. Not that I don't take tons of pictures of the kids, but this camera allows me to feel like I'm not be in their faces with it.
