Christmas Card Dilemma (4)
Yes Christmas in February...
But we had this problem, how do you choose a Christmas card picture? On a warm mid-December day we headed to the Dallas Arboretum with Dr. Bruce and Grandma Eder as photo assistants. There was much wrangling of cranky children, but we managed to get three excellent photos: the artistic, the cute, and the off-center, but normal. After much debate, Karen and I chose the artistic, even though you can't really see Francesca's face...
I thought it would be fun to share the card and the "close but not quite."

The Card

The Cute

The Off-Center Normal

Children on the Loose

Francesca's alien abduction took us all by surprise, but Sophia still managed a slight smile!

Puts our blog to shame. I love the Exchange on the sidebar, might have to borrow that idea. One more blog to keep up with, should be fun. I will really enjoy seeing you guys on a more regular basis.

Okay, so these photos really have me puzzled, particularly the two on the grass. It's obviously late in the day here — the shadows are long — but is that all that's going on? The lighting is, well, strange (but good). I think three things may have produced the images I see: fill flash, a reflector, or some tweaking in phtoshop. Which, if any, of these things occurred? Or are these simply raw images? Interesting lighting, yessirree.

No flash, reflector, or photoshop (although I wanted a reflector there, but the 4 adults there still had a hard time keeping our girls remotely interested. It was late in the day, and in the winter in Dallas, the time you have golden light seems to be quite a bit longer. For me it is hard to reconcile the fact that it is December and everything is usually so brown and ugly here that time of year. The Wolf Camera that we take our film to, does a nice job with color and contrast on our prints...
